ORIGIN STORY
Paul’s first 55 years have been diverse and eclectic and electric. Raised primarily by a single mom, he came up in the time before the advent of A.D.D. Back then it was simply labeled hyperactivity and there was no medication. He was the kid with the “Don’t bring him back” label from barbers and babysitters.
However, like so many who have been tagged with a “disorder” that excess energy became a tool for Paul to tap into and leverage. The focal point became communication through the verbal and visual. He gave his first speech at the age of 12 and was being paid to speak by 16.
As his communication opportunities grew as a teen, so did Paul as a competitor. In his late teens, he competed at regional levels in powerlifting and bodybuilding. This sprang from buying a muscle magazine in a “pac-n-sak” in Santuck, AL in 1977. Arnold Schwarzenegger was on the cover and he felt sneaky since the issue seemed to be hidden on the top shelf – which he had to climb to retrieve.
Lou Ferrigno was starring in “The Incredible Hulk” at the same time and that further boosted the lad’s wishes to build a Hulk-sized frame. While Paul never made it to the big leagues, he opened a fitness center at the age of twenty and thus launched his first business.
Paul continued the communication path speaking at corporate and organizational events then authoring his first book, Instant Speaking Success. One of the highlights of this period was getting to meet his mentor Zig Ziglar and present on the same program with him.
At age 24 his first wife, Sherri, passed away when their son, Sam, was just five weeks old. This event created the focus to be clear and on purpose with whatever direction his life would go.
All in all, he started or co-founded 7 companies and 4 digital companies. Paul help creative entrepreneurs discover the CLEAR purpose for their lives, companies, products and services.
